IT services major HCL Technologies on Monday announced that its software business division, HCLSoftware, will acquire Croatia-based enterprise robotic process automation (RPA) platform provider Robotiq.ai in an all-cash deal valued at an enterprise value of 9 million euro (about Rs 98 crore).
The analysis
HCL Technologies reported Rs 98 crore, with movement of 100% attached to those lines. Those are the figures as filed — what moves the price is how they sit against what the market already expected, not their absolute size.
Against that, the stock is -2.1% on the day at ₹1,179.20, and has returned +1.2% over three months. It sits 32% below its 52-week high, which means a good deal of bad news was already in the price. The it sector has moved -3.2% over the same period, so HCL Technologies is running 4.4 points ahead of its peers.
For HCL Technologies, the question is how much of this is already reflected in the price and how much re-rates the it peer set alongside it.
Market context
- The company directly in focus is HCLTECH.
- Sector exposure: IT.
