NTPC invites bids for 26% stake in industrial co-generation projects
NTPC set out an expansion in an energy transition development.
· BS Companies
NTPC Limited, India's largest integrated power utility, has invited Expressions of Interest (EOI) from Commercial and Industrial (C&I) entities interested in taking 26 per cent equity in co-generation projects.
The analysis
NTPC reported movement of 26%. Those are the figures as filed — what moves the price is how they sit against what the market already expected, not their absolute size.
Against that, the stock is +0.7% on the day at ₹312.00, and has returned -9.2% over three months. It sits 24% below its 52-week high. The power sector has moved -13.7% over the same period, so NTPC is running 4.5 points ahead of its peers.
For NTPC, the question is how much of this is already reflected in the price and how much re-rates the power peer set alongside it.
Why it matters
- The shift to renewables is redrawing which energy names are structural winners versus stranded.
Market context
- The company directly in focus is NTPC.
- Sector exposure: Power.
