· Business Standard Mkts, Economic Times Markets, ET Stocks

Period
FY2027

ITC reported ₹201 cr for FY2027, with movement of 8%, 51% and 21% attached to those lines. Those are the figures as filed — what moves the price is how they sit against what the market already expected, not their absolute size.

Against that, the stock is +1.0% on the day at ₹260.50, and has returned -8.1% over three months. It sits 38% below its 52-week high, which means a good deal of bad news was already in the price. The fmcg sector has moved -10.0% over the same period, so ITC is running 1.9 points ahead of its peers.

For ITC, the question is how much of this is already reflected in the price and how much re-rates the fmcg peer set alongside it.

  • Earnings versus expectations is what actually re-rates a stock; the surprise matters more than the absolute number.
  • In focus: ITC (ITC Hotels) (ITC), in FMCG.
  • On the day, 2 of 2 are higher: ITC Hotels leads at +5.2% and ITC (ITC Hotels) trails at +1.0%.
  • Over three months: ITC (ITC Hotels) -8.1% against FMCG -10.0% (1.9 points ahead); ITC Hotels +2.8% against Hotels & Restaurants +3.2% (0.5 points behind).
  • At least 25% below the 52-week high: ITC (ITC Hotels) (38%) and ITC Hotels (25%).
  • Trading well above normal today: ITC Hotels at 7.6 times its 20-day average volume.
