Nifty’s festive comeback: Can the bulls keep the party going?

Reliance Industries is in focus in a promoter activity development.

· Business Today Mkts

A firmer rupee, IDBI stake sale and Jio IPO lift sentiment, but crude oil above $100 a barrel remains the biggest threat to the rally.

Against that, the stock is +2.6% on the day at ₹1,205.20, and has returned -6.4% over three months. It sits 24% below its 52-week high. The oil & energy sector has moved -1.3% over the same period, so Reliance Industries is running 5.1 points behind its peers.

This is an Input cost / crude event. India imports most of its crude, so input costs pass through to margins downstream and to the rupee. Producers and consumers of the same input move in opposite directions. On the day the stock is +2.6%, so the market took notice.

For Reliance Industries, the question is how much of this is already reflected in the price and how much re-rates the oil & energy peer set alongside it.

  • Promoters buy and sell with more information than anyone; the direction of their conviction is a signal in itself.
  • Listing activity is a read on risk appetite — a hot primary market usually means a confident secondary one.
  • The company directly in focus is RELIANCE.
  • Sector exposure: Oil & Energy.
  • The immediate tone of coverage reads positive.
