Period
Q2FY27

NSE reported movement of 200 basis points for Q2FY27. Those are the figures as filed — what moves the price is how they sit against what the market already expected, not their absolute size.

Against that, the stock is +2.3% on the day at ₹234.30, and has returned -14.2% over three months. It sits 48% below its 52-week high, which means a good deal of bad news was already in the price. The hotels & restaurants sector has moved +2.3% over the same period, so Swiggy is running 16.5 points behind its peers.

This is an Index / institutional flows event. Passive and institutional flows move price independently of fundamentals, and around rebalancing dates they dominate it. On the day the stock is +2.3%, so the market took notice.

  • Earnings versus expectations is what actually re-rates a stock; the surprise matters more than the absolute number.
  • Sustained FII or DII direction moves the whole market, not just the names being bought — it sets the tape's tone.
  • With NSE involved, this carries a regulatory dimension that can outlast the immediate market reaction.
  • It touches several names at once (SWIGGY, PAYTM, MEESHO, COCHINSHIP), which points to a sector-level rather than company-specific driver.
  • Sector exposure: Hotels & Restaurants, Financial Services, Consumer & Retail.
